Sidney: The bishop mentioned this "sport" but did not say how it was played. Does anybody know about this?Inge: I've heard of the game, but have no idea how it is played. Is it similar to flag football, except you steal a kiss instead of grabbing the flags attached to the players?
Sidney: Hmmmm ... no idea. Thanks for your guess. My first and only thought was that one cold sore could bring down the whole ward!
Inge: No kidding. Also, depending on who else is playing and what kind of a kiss, I may be tempted to not run with the ball and just let certain people catch me to kiss me ... that would make for a really boring football game ...

Inge: Okay, so things slowed down a bit this afternoon at work. I googled "Kissing Rugby" and one of the results yielded this:
"Attacks" sounds painful and illegal to me ... and why would you try to "avoid getting kissed"? I thought that was the whole purpose of the game."Kissing rugby is an aggressive sport where rug burns are as common as kissing. It's played with a large group of boys and girls. Each boy gets a number assigned to him and the girls are assigned letters. Everyone makes a circle with boys on one side, girls on the other. Someone gets in the middle and calls out a number and a letter (i.e. D--5) and then "D" and "5" enter the circle and attack the member of the opposite sex. If a girl is in the middle to start then the boy "5" attacks her while the girl "D" attacks "5." A point is scored when either "D" or "5" lands a kiss anywhere on the face (ears count) of the other person. Whoever is kissed has to remain in the middle, call out a number and a letter, and avoid getting kissed in the next round."
Note: Talk about mixed signals! First you're attacking them and then you run away ... people are going to need some serious meds after playing this game ... and possibly a restraining order.

And what's supposed to be fun about this game? Don't they know that relationships based on traumatic events never work out?
It's not the playing that's fun. It is HILLAREOUS to watch! They did this at my high school senior party. This pathetic girl latched onto the guy, completely hanging on him and he was DESPARATE to get away. At that point, I don't think it was a game. It is certainly a game for hurt!
Like I said ... restraining order.
This was very popular at our high school theatre conferences. It's improv. You learned fast to take off jewelry and watches because earrings got torn out or you'd get scratched by a watch. Basically you don't want to get caught and kissed...most of the time. Not if you want your team to win anyway.
